NEW NORMAL IMMIGRATION SERVICE BASED ON CIRCULAR LETTER NO. IMI-GR.01.01-1102 OF 2020

On 10 July, 2020, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights-Directorate General of Immigration issued a Circular Letter No. IMI-GR.01.01-1102 of 2020 concerning Immigration Stay Permit Services in New Normal (“Circular Letter”). The Circular Letter intends to give guidelines on the immigration services in new normal era.

The Circular Letter informs:

  1. The holders of expired Limited Stay Permit (“ITAS”) who are not in Indonesia shall return to Indonesia and renew their ITAS before September 9, 2020. Pass that date, the immigration will not allow the holder of expired ITAS to enter Indonesia. In this case, the sponsor must apply new visa for such foreigners.
  2. Immigration office services on extension of Visiting Stay Permit (Izin Tinggal Kunjungan/”ITK”), ITAS, and Permanent Stay Permit (Izin Tinggal Tetap/ITAP) are nowback to normal.
  3. The Emergency Stay Permit (“Emergency Permit”) is revoked and therefore:
    1. The holders of ITK can extend their ITK if the Covid-19 Pandemic still exist and there is no transportation available to leave Indonesia. They need to process the extension no later than 30 (thirty) days from the issuance date of Circular Letter.
    2. The holders of expired ITAS or ITAP must renew their ITAS or ITAP no later than 30 (thirty) days from the issuance date of Circular Letter.
    3. If the holder fails to comply with a and b above within 30 (thirty) days from the issuance date of the Circular Letter, then he or she will get an administrative sanction.
  4. The holders of expired Visa on Arrival/Visa Kunjungan Saat Kedatangan (VOA b213)/”VKSK”) must extend their visa within 30 (thirty) days after the issuance of the Circular Letter. If they fail to extend within 30 (thirty) days, they will get an administrative sanction.
  5. The holders of expired Exemption Visiting Visa (Bebas Visa Kunjungan/”BVK”) must leave Indonesia within 30 (thirty) days. If they fail to leave Indonesia within 30 (thirty) days, an administrative sanction will then be given.
  6. Foreigners who have received telex visa and notification while they are in Indonesia, may apply ITK or ITAS in the immigration office in their area. They do not need to leave Indonesia, as usual. The payment of visa will use billing Simponi application. The proof of payment will be used as the evidence of obtaining visa.

The Circular Letter was issued on July 10, 2020 and came into force on July 13, 2020.
